A F2P Review of Legacy Quest: Rise of Heroes
A F2P review on the new strategy rpg by Nexon - Legacy Quest: Rise of Heroes!
In this post I'll be reviewing the new Legacy Quest: Rise of Heroes quest now available in the Google Play Store. This review will be from a F2P perspective. I'll be evaluating how fun the game is without spending a dime.
Intro
At the start of the game you're an explorer named Walker followed by your friend Ava. The dialogue is light and enjoyable and the graphics and animations are very well polished.
In-Game Currency
There are several different currencies. Such as power skulls, gold, power crystals, green tokens, blue tokens and hero tokens.
Here's a brief breakdown of each currency:
- Skulls - These seem to be the premium currency used in purchasing different quality loot chests and refilling energy and mine carts.
- Gold - Gathered by completing adventure dungeons. Gold is used to enhance equipment.
- Power Crystals - Gathered from the mine cart every 20 minutes or so. Used to improve hero traits such at attack and HP.
- Green Tokens - Collected from adventure dungeons above Normal difficulty. Can be exchanged for hero-specific tokens.
- Blue Tokens - Collected from the daily log-in event. Like green tokens can be exchanged for hero-specific tokens.
- Hero Tokens - Gather by exchanging green and blue tokens, these can be used to upgrade hero skills.
- Souls - Found in adventure dungeons souls improve the quality of heroes through soul binding.
The currency seems to be quite abundant when you start the game off. I'm still not sure if this trend continues as the game progresses. But so far so good.
Achievements
There are plenty of achievements for all you completionists! The achievements also seem to be quite generous with the awarded currencies.
F2P or Not
Just from the first 2 hours of playing the game I'm having a great time. I've gathered lots of different currencies and haven't had to spend much yet. I also haven't gotten hassled to make any 99% OFF purchases yet. No beginner bundles or immediate new player deals. For some people that like to spend and get that instant gratification this might not be a good thing.
*Update - I have received 2 in-app purchase offers that expire in 5-10 days. They're the typical $5 beginners bundle and a $20 global release bundle. Neither of which I'll be purchasing but I am interested to see how valuable those bundles actually are, and how difficult it will be to get those items without paying.
F2P Verdict: 8/10
The game is really fun and well made. But there's definitely an aspect of pay 2 win in this game (not surprising). However, you can still rank quite high without spending a dime if you put in the time on the right units. If your interested in the game and want to learn more, check out my beginner's guide.
